Touch resistant screen

Fitting the screen was pretty straightforward with none of the trapped bubbles I've fought on plastic film screen protectors. However, when I tried to use the phone the problems started. Touching near the middle of the screen was sluggish and almost as though it was popping in and out. Pressing near the edge of the screen was sometimes totally unresponsive. In all locations I often didn't get the key I had pressed.
The top of the screen had a small cutout for the speaker but the glass covered the camera and other lights/sensors. This may be why the phone kept reporting that the proximity detector was not working.
I has to return the protector as unfit for purpose.
